Streaming to web page

Streaming to web page

Postby KB0BZZ on Mon Mar 30, 2009 12:10 am

Greetings,

I'm trying to understand whether DStar TV can do what I need. Basically, I want to be able to connect a video source to my laptop, run DStar TV, stream the video out the laptop over the ID-1 Internet connection to the ID-1, transmit the video via the ID-1 DD port, through our DStar gateway out over the internet to a web page on my website at my ISP and have folks be able to pull up the web page and view the live video feed.

Can I do this with DStar TV and the ID-1?

Hello Bob,

This will be possbile (hopefully!) when I've finished the next release, version 4.0.0.0. It involves embedding the video activex component into webpage and connecting via the dstar tv server (which will do the routing). I'll work on that in conjuction with the PC client.

John, is there any way to make this work by streaming from and ID-1 to a DD repeater via internet to a another user running the Dstar TV software or will the software fail if there is no ID-1 to control on the recieving end?

What I'm looking to do is stream video from and ID-1 via the DD repeater over the internet to another user running the software. Only one ID-1 needed.

Hope that make sense.

Thanks

Ted,

This will be possible with the next version of DStar TV. You can use the current version to stream of the internet with or without an ID-1 by disabling the ID-1 control.

Hi Ted,

Its all go! I do have an issue, in that the company that has developed the streaming video component is releasing updates quicker than I can code. The majority of version 4 has been re-written for the new component but the improvements are coming thick and fast.

If you are interested, DStar TV now uses the .net component : http://www.avspeed.com

As you can see things are moving fast on this but I'm doing my best to keep up.

John, I understand about trying to keep up with the updates. No hurry.
If you need a beta tester please let me know. I am one of the Gateway admins here in San Diego and we have DStar data repeater that is accessible from my QTH.

Thanks again.
