HotSpot connectivity

HotSpot connectivity

Can you please add HotSpot connectivity?

The DVAR-HotSpot software is able to transmit slow speed data via port 20003. Many other apps such as D-RATS are able to forward data to the DVAR application on port 20003 and the resultant data falls out of the attached analog radio in D-STAR format (a hotspot uses a GMSK modem and analog radio to generate D-STAR data).

I can see a use for your software in an OEM environment where the "operator" would be one of the OEM staff (not licenced) and he would need to upload pictures from his camera to another station. Somewhere on the local LAN would be a DVAR HotSpot (properly licensed and operated) that would forward the picture via RF to the outstations/HQ.

By creating LAN based access to the D-STAR network hams can offer their OEM's far more services for the same equipment. The OEM staff see this as a transparent facility. It becomes one of their network facilities similar to email; it just works.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

That would be trivial to do, however, I'd more information on the DVAR-hotspot. DStar TV is designed to send the data to a serial port and handle delays and buffering which the icom radios lack, I assume the hotspot would not require this as it would handle this. I expect all I would have to do is to send the data to port 20003 and target it to a selected ip address.

I'll certainly have a look at this for the next version.
